Frequently Asked Questions
What is Night to Shine?
Night to Shine is an unforgettable prom night experience, centered on God's love, for people with special needs ages 14 and older.
How long has Night to Shine been around and how many churches host the event?
Heading into its seventh year, Night to Shine continues to experience incredible growth. The event launched in 2015 with 44 host churches and 15,000 volunteers honoring more than 7,000 kings and queens of the prom. This past February, 721 host churches and 215,000 volunteers came together to celebrate 110,000 honored guests with special needs.
Where does it take Place?
Night to Shine takes place all over the world at host churches. Compass Christian Church will host the event at all four of Compass Christian Church Locations. When you register for our event, you will see the addresses of our locations. The event starts at 6pm and ends at 9pm.

Do I get Dressed up for the Event?
Yes, Night to Shine is a Prom Experience, dress up, makeup, shoeshines!! Girls usually wear long prom dresses, short is wonderful too. Guys wear suits, suit jackets. Most of all wear comfortable shoes, A LOT OF DANCING ALL NIGHT LONG!!
Will I be by myself all Night?
Each one of our Kings and Queens will have their own Buddy for the whole evening. They will be their to assist our guests with what ever needs they will have and to make sure they have the best night of their lives!!!
Do I eat dinner at event?
Yes, Night to Shine is an amazing evening and it starts off with a dinner served to our Kings and Queens by our Buddies. Then the Night kicks off with a crowning ceremony for each King and Queen. They will receive a crown or tiara that is theirs to keep. Then the rest of the night is filled with dancing, fellowship, photo booths, shoeshine stations, makeup and hair touch up stations, donut walls.
What if I get tired or music too loud?
Our goal for Night to Shine is to make sure each one of our Kings and Queens has the best evening of their lives. Sometimes we need to just take a break from the music and dancing. We have a sensory room for our guests to come and visit. It will be a place where you can just sit and rest or do a puzzle with your buddy. When you fill rested you can go back into the party!
What happens to my parents/caregivers?
When you arrive at one of our locations Mom or Dad comes into the event with you and checks you in and meets your Buddy for the evening. Then your parents if they have decided to stay can join our respite room, or they will be back at 9pm to pick you up.
What is the respite room?
Night to Shine realizes that this event may be the only time parents can take a break from caregiving. We will have a room setup that will be just for parents to take a few hours and just relax if they want too. We will provide snacks, some locations will have dinner, depending on space. Most of all we want our parents/caregivers to feel loved and appreciated for all you do for your King or Queen!!
Will there be medical team on site?
Yes, at all four of our Night to Shine locations we will have a Nurse on site. They will be their to just handle minor needs. They will be able assess if more medical help will be needed at any time.
Will security be around?
Yes, we will have security at all four of our locations. No guest will be allowed outside the buildings unless accompanied by their parents if they need to leave early. All our guests and buddies/volunteers will have lanyards on identifying them all evening.
Does Night to Shine cost anything?
Night to Shine does not cost anything to our guests. It is our privilege and honor to host this event for our Special Needs Community. Our events are fully funded by donations we raise all year long to cover the events. See our donation page if you would like to donate to help support this amazing event.
